CONDITIONS
WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE
1. The site aims to encourage people in and around Saltash to make art and to make it available for others to enjoy.
2. Ashtorre Rock* intends that this site should be as inclusive and encouraging as possible. The following conditions aim to make the project fair and manageable.
WHO IT IS FOR
3. In these Conditions, ‘Saltash’ is understood to include the town and the surrounding villages, broadly the PL12 area.
4. Anyone who lives in or can demonstrate a link with Saltash may register to become a Contributor and submit images. This may include any person who
a. Lives or works or attends a group or activity in Saltash
b. Makes a visual study of places or events in Saltash
c. Has lived in Saltash and maintains a close link.
5. Visitors to Saltash are invited to submit images made during or following a visit.
6. There will be no distinction between ‘professional’ or ‘amateur’, ‘trained’ or ‘untrained’ artists. On the site all Contributors will be identified as ‘Artists’, regardless of experience or medium.
7. Contributors are asked to select and submit images of work that they believe to be interesting and that they are proud to share. All eligible people are encouraged to ‘have a go’.
8. Contributors may be individuals or groups [eg. art classes]
9. Children aged under 16 may contribute in two ways
a. Individually, by taking part in an organised activity [such as a drawing project] and with the permission of a parent/carer
b. As a member of a group submission [such as a school class], the Contributor being a responsible adult.
WHAT CAN BE INCLUDED
10. In these Conditions, ‘image’ means a jpg file, usually a photograph of a drawing or painting or other art work.
11. Galleries will be set up in response to the work that Contributors submit, in order that site visitors may access work easily, usually by subject. Within each [subject] gallery will be personal galleries of individual Contributors’ work.
12. Images may show work in any style or medium. Where the work is 2-D, it should normally be a cropped image without frame or external objects. Where the work is 3-D, it may be photographed in situ to show it to best advantage.
13. Photography will be located in a separate gallery. Contributors are invited to submit good quality images that are carefully composed. The site is not intended as a sharing site for ‘local interest’ snaps, which may be rejected or removed by the Site Editor.
14. In order to maintain a reasonable balance between Contributors and to keep the site manageable for visitors, each personal gallery may be restricted to a maximum of 10 images. However an individual may have a personal gallery of up to 10 images in more than one subject gallery.
15. When new images are uploaded that would bring the total in that personal gallery to more than 10, the earliest images may be removed and archived.
16. A separate gallery is available for drawings or other work made by visitors to Saltash, who may lodge up to 5 images directly related to Saltash and excluding photographs.
17. Images or original work will not be available for sale through this website. Contributors who wish their work to be available for sale may include a link to their own dedicated art website but not to sites of other personal interests or businesses. Ashtorre Rock will take no responsibility for contacts or sales or any consequences arising from this facility.
OUR RESPONSIBILITIES
18. Contributors are responsible for ensuring that an image [the photograph of the piece of work] is of sufficiently good quality and complies with technical requirements.
19. Images and their copyright remain the property of the artist. To deter unauthorised downloading, copyright will be indicated and images will be displayed at low resolution, sufficient for on-screen display, but not for large-scale print quality. Beyond this, Ashtorre Rock will take no responsibility for unauthorised downloading or copying.
20. By submitting images, Contributors accept that they may be used in whole or part for website display or publicity purposes.
21. By registering and submitting images, Contributors accept that Ashtorre Rock will retain any personal information provided during registration whilst the Contributor remains registered and for up to one year thereafter. Contributors are responsible for informing the Site Editor of any changes to this information. Ashtorre Rock and its representatives will not pass personal information to any external person or body. Only a Contributor’s name, together with any image captions, will routinely be published on the site. Personal website or other contact details will be published only following explicit request.
22. Ashtorre Rock and/or the Site Editor retain the right to select, place, reject or remove images for any reason. Images must be appropriate to the gallery in which they are lodged and should respect normal standards of decency, as would be exercised by a public art gallery. If, in the view of Ashtorre Rock and/or the Site Editor, inappropriate images are submitted, they may be removed without notice and the Contributor may be barred from future use of the site.
23. Ashtorre Rock will seek to protect the interests and privacy of all Contributors but cannot be held responsible for any consequences of registering with or displaying work on the site.
24. A Contributor may terminate his/her registration at any time by request to the Site Editor and all personal images will then be removed.
25. By registering, Contributors accept these conditions. If, in the view of Ashtorre Rock and/or the Site Editor, these conditions are broken, the Contributor may be de-registered and personal images may be removed.
26. Ashtorre Rock may modify these conditions without notice to improve the site or its management or for any other reason.
27. *The website, the name TheBigSaltashPictureShow.com, editorial control and all design and logos are the property of Saltash Waterside Community Association [Registered Charity 299044], operating as Ashtorre Rock.
